Recirculate, formerly called Lifecycle Project, takes donated bikes, renovates them in prison workshops and locates them with NHS key workers and others in need - DONATE, RENOVATE, LOCATE.
The project works with hospitals where we hope to offer a route to mental and physical wellbeing amongst NHS key workers. The current partner hospitals are West Middlesex Hospital (South West London), Southmead Hospital (Bristol), Peterborough City Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford). We are planning to expand the project to the North West of England as well as
to other hospitals in the South East.
Prison workshops had been closed to minimise covid transmission, and in Spring 2021 we worked with local businesses to renovate the bikes. However, since November 2021 prisoners in HMP Hewell (West Midlands) and HMP Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire) have been renovating the donated bikes. Prisoners are supported with training opportunities which helps to reduce social exclusion, improve mental health and contributes to their employment prospects on release
